BuildBane ("we", "us", or "our") operates the BuildBane platform at buildbane.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. By using our platform you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

• Account information — your name and email address, collected when you sign up via our authentication provider Clerk.
• Profile information — any details you choose to add to your profile, such as your role, skills, school, or bio.
• Content you post — projects, community posts, job listings, and messages you create on the platform.
• Usage information — basic server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) collected automatically by our hosting infrastructure.

We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

2. How we use your information

• To operate and provide the BuildBane platform
• To send you notifications about activity on your projects or posts (via email through MailerSend)
• To respond to support requests submitted through our contact form
• To keep the platform secure and prevent abuse

We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising.

3. Third-party services

We work with the following service providers who may process your data on our behalf:

• Clerk — authentication and session management. Clerk stores your email and login credentials. See Clerk's privacy policy at clerk.com/privacy.
• Railway — application hosting and infrastructure. Your data is stored on Railway's servers. See railway.app/legal/privacy.
• MailerSend — transactional email delivery for notifications. See mailersend.com/legal/privacy-policy.
• GoDaddy — domain registrar. GoDaddy processes our domain registration only and does not have access to your data.

4. Cookies

We only use cookies that are strictly necessary to operate the platform — specifically, session cookies set by Clerk to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear these cookies at any time through your browser settings, which will log you out.

5. Data retention

We keep your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law. Content you posted (such as projects) may remain visible in an anonymised form.

6. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Withdraw consent for email notifications at any time (unsubscribe link in every email)

7. Children

BuildBane is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice on the platform. Your continued use of BuildBane after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
